Planning

Last night we talked about our troop budget and made plans for spending our cookie money -all $3,000 dollars of it. The girls had an opportunity to present ideas -any new ideas should be brought forward next Monday night.

So far, a three day trip to San Antonio is on the agenda for next fall...a sleepover at Sea World, a day at Sea World, a boat ride on the River Walk, and a day at Natural Bridge Caverns and Wildlife Safari should provide plenty of opportunity for adventure and education.

Also, a recognition party for an amazing cookie sale will take place at a water park in Tyler this summer. I can't think of a better place for a party!

Because of our hard work (business meetings are always work) we completed the first activity of our Penny Power girl scout try-it.

More pictures coming soon!

Chrissa

It was great to see everyone last night -I feel like I have been out of the loop for quite a while!

Last night the girls from Troop 9052 introduced Chrissa as our next book club selection. We talked about bullying, took a survey to see if we have any bullying tendencies, and made book marks.

if you do not already have your book, then you can pick it up at Hastings. Remember to tell them that you are on a list (under my name) to receive the book at my educator's discount price.

Now it's time to start reading :)

Here are more pictures from last night's meeting.

Jewish Heritage Patch

Tonight we earned our Jewish Heritage patch and celebrated Tu B'shvat -the New Year for the trees. We had a fruit seder, learned a little about Israel, listened to music, and closed with poetry by Shel Silverstein. Did I mention that we ate fruit?

The Upshaws of County Line - Photo Exhibit

We earned our African American Heritage patch tonight and had an incredible opportunity to meet and talk with Mr. Richard Orton (photographer) and Mr. Marion Upshaw about the photo exhibit the Upshaws of County Line.

Our questions?
Did you have running water?
Did you have to help out your brothers and sisters?
...video to come :)

We owe a big thanks to SFA's East Texas Research Center for organizing this wonderful event for us and the Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House for making us welcome :)

MySpace Celebrity and Katalyst present The Presidential Pledge

I pledge to mentor girls and give them opportunities I never knew were open to me. I pledge to find creative ways to use my professional resources to help the community.
