Controlled Chaos - Meeting #1

Miriam & Sarah
Our year started in a whirlwind of introductions, t-shirt and bag painting, and the beginning of our new Brownie Journey.

We welcomed three new girls to our troop :
Caroline, Sarah and Skylar!

Here are some resources for our new girls:
1. The Brownie Promise(they will need to memorize the promise for their investiture ceremony/ October 13th)
2. The Make New Friends Song
3. A picture of where to put all those pins and patches on the new Brownie vest (the mouse is a fun patch and goes on the back; the girls will get their brownie pin at their investiture ceremony)

Don't forget to complete your first secret sister exchange and bring it next Monday night to earn the second bead for your necklace :)

Thanks parents for all your help.

You can see more pictures from last night here...

Big Summer Adventures

Monte Alban

Just back from travels to Oaxaca and South Padre.

Oaxaca was full of Artisan interviews and fiestas. The incredible things we saw, photographed and filmed overshadowed the exhaustion of being continuously on the go, missing US diet coke, and cheeseburgers :)

We took over 4,000 pictures and 30 hours of video...Chrissy (in this pic. with me) already has a great sample of pics. in her Flickr account.

Miriam got to go with me on the South Padre trip! South Padre was all about filming the release of hundreds of baby Kemp's Ridley sea turtles :) Of course, now we are all hoping our babies are safe in the midst of hurricane Dolly!

You can see more pictures from our Sea Turtle Adventure here...

The TIDES blog gives some "official" updates about these two trips.

Camp Wrap Up

It was great to see our very happy, very tired, and only slightly dirty girls last Thursday! We really enjoyed the talent show. It sounds like we have lots of new songs to learn - I know Bazooka Bubble Gum was a hit.

Here are some vi
deos from the camp talent show...

150 great camp stories and a corn dog later...
