WOW Meeting - Water Color with Ms. Alisa

Tonight our WOW Journey introduced us to the world of water color. Ms. Alisa (our amazing resident art teacher) taught us about the art of painting with water colors.
Water color is definitely one great benefit of water.
We made very cool and very colorful Texas snowflakes.
Thanks parents for helping Ms. Angie out with the scrapbook :)

Next week we will meet at my house for a campfire, water themed GS songs, and toasty marshmallows. I hope our weather stays cool!

Rainbow Connection

Tonight we relaxed, embarked on our new Girl Scout Journey, talked about all the things we love about water, made rainbows, and indulged in rainbow suckers and pizza bites :)
The rainbow hunt is on...
found one!
Rainbows to share.
Don't forget to bring pictures, stories, poems, collages or other expressions of what you love most about water. Next week we will begin constructing our water map.

el Dia de los Muertos

On Monday, November 2, 2009, Stephen F. Austin State University, the U.S. Forest Service and Texas Forest Service’s Urban and Rural Connections program hosted the Aztec Cultural Ataché, Quetzal Ollín Chicuahuac in a special performance celebrating the Day of the Dead, “el Dia de los Muertos” through interpretive dance and music linking culture and nature. The event also included poetry readings from the book, Cansiones de Flores, “Songs of the Flowers” created by SFASU Art Professor, Charlie Jones and the LaNana Creek Press in collaboration with Mexico City artist, Carolina Vinamata.

Every day is better with a hug from Smokey the Bear
a regular snake bonanza!

Learning a little about Aztec culture and the construction of the traditional Aztec alter for el Dia de los Muertos
